As a jeweller from St Bride’s he paid Duty in 1773 for the apprentice indentures of Joseph Harry.
As a bachelor from St Bride, Fleet Street parish he married Rebecca Bowman at St Mary, Ealing in 1774.
He entered a mark at Goldsmiths Hall in 1775 as a gold worker from 8 New Street, Shoe Lane.
Christening records at St Bride’s from 1777-1788 for eight of their children (including Joseph born 1783 and William Henry born 1786, see below) show their address as New Street.
As a jeweller from St Bride’s he also paid Duty for the apprentice indentures of Thomas Fry in 1777, Bartholomew Scully in 1780 and James Ladson in 1784.
His son Joseph was apprenticed in 1798 to Thomas Hardy (Grimwade p.349) of the Clockmakers Company. His address remained at Little New Street, Shoe Lane.
In 1802, still at the same address, he was entitled to a vote in the elections in respect of a house he owned in Poplar.
No death record has been found for him.
Grimwade p. 372 records Joseph and William Henry Newcomb entered a mark at Goldsmiths Hall in 1824 as gold workers from 8 Little New Street indicating their father had retired or died.
