He was born in 1807 and christened John Brittain in 1816 at St John, Clerkenwell, the son of Samuel and Jane of Eagle Court.
Indentures were signed in 1822 for him to be the apprentice of John Vine (Grimwade p.369) of the Goldsmiths Company and ring maker of Staining Lane.
He entered a mark at Goldsmiths Hall in 1835 as a gold worker from 54 Red Lion Street, Clerkenwell.
The 1841 UK Census recorded him unmarried and working as a ring maker at Alleton Street, Hoxton New Town.
No further information has been found for him.
