SHEPPARD, Frederick (Grimwade p.361)

Post by MCB »

Goldworkers List (Section VII).

Records show he was Frederick Sykes Sheppard, born in Bath, Somerset around 1794.
He married Catherine Magahan at St Pancras Old church in 1832; both were from that parish.
The christening record for their daughter Kate Jane at the same church in 1833 shows their address as Wilson Street and her father was a jeweller.
Christening records in 1835 and 1836 at St Martin, Ludgate for two sons show their address as Ludgate Hill from where their father entered a mark at Goldsmiths Hall in 1835 as a gold worker.
He is shown as a jeweller at Kingsland Road, Shoreditch in the UK Census records for 1841-61.
He died at 280 Kingsland Road in 1875.
His Will was proved for probate at the Principal Registry in the same year and referred to him as a wholesale jeweller. The value of his estate was £450.
