Goldworkers List (Section VII).

Census and other records indicate he was born around 1810 in Clerkenwell, the son of George Elliott, a coach master.
He entered a maker’s mark at Goldsmiths Hall in 1835 as a gold worker from 3 Charlton Place, Colbrook Row, Islington and another in the same trade from 2 Upper Ashby Street, Northampton Square in 1836.
As a bachelor and goldsmith living at 5 Skinner Street, Clerkenwell he married Sarah Charlotte Attridge in 1843 at St Mary, Islington. She was 19 years old. They had six children born between 1844 and 1866.
They were still at 5 Skinner Street for the 1851 UK Census where he was recorded as a jeweller.
He had retired by 1861 to 2 Crimea Villas, Wood Green, Tottenham and was still in Wood Green in 1871.
He died in 1877 at the same address.
His Will was proved for probate in the same year; the value of his estate was around £40000.

He's listed in the 1841 census at the 2 Upper Ashby Street in the address. It appears that at this time he is living with his mother and siblings. There is a seventeen year old Benjamin who is also listed as a jeweller and a fifteen year old aprentice whose name I can't make, Frederick Kirt (sp?).

The indexer listed his name as George Ellrot which of course makes him very difficult to look up.
