Page 113 of Watchmakers and Clockmakers of the World notes that he was made an apprentice in 1770.
He was assessed to Land Tax on property in St John Square, Clerkenwell from 1780.
His marriage to Margaret Smith was held at St Sepulchre, Holborn in 1781; he was from St John, Clerkenwell parish.
He entered a maker’s mark at Goldsmiths Hall in 1782 as a gold worker from 8 St John Square.
As a watch maker from Clerkenwell he also paid Duty in that year for the apprentice indentures of Robert Baker.
Trade Directories show him as a watch and clock maker or factor at various addresses in St John Square: in 1783-91 at number 8, in 1790 at number 1 and in 1791 at number 9.
No further information has been found.

The Will of Andrew Fowlds, watch case maker late of St John, Clerkenwell, was proved for probate on 14th April 1792. A bequest was left to his father Allan Fowlds of Kilmarnock Ayr Scotland Merchant. (National Archives reference PROB 11/1217/132).
