He married Isabella Armstrong at St Mary, Islington in 1789; both were from that parish.
There are christening records at St Mary from 1790-1802 for six of their children. None contain detail of their address or their father’s occupation.
Indentures were signed in 1805 by William (born 1790), the son of Joseph Anderton watch case maker of St Mary parish, Islington, to be the apprentice of Richard Durnball of the Clockmakers Company.
The burial of Isabella Anderton aged 44 years was recorded at St Mary, Islington in 1811.
Indentures were signed in 1812 by George (born 1795), the son of Joseph Anderton watch case maker of Domingo Street, Old Street, to be the apprentice of William Eady (Grimwade p.383) of the Goldsmiths Company and jeweller of West Street, Smithfield.
Joseph entered a mark at Goldsmiths Hall in 1814 as a watch case maker from 29 Brick Lane, Noble Street.
There may have been a family connection with St Pancras parish from around 1815-1820 when both daughters Jane (born 1794) and Mary (born 1802) gave that parish as their address when marrying. Their father Joseph signed neither marriage register as a witness.
He may have been the Joseph Anderton assessed to Land Tax in 1826-7 on property in Mile End New Town, Stepney.
No other detail has been found for him.
