NORVILL, James (Grimwade p.340, 343)

Post by MCB »

He was christened James Norviel in 1772 at St Luke, Finsbury. His parents were William, a baker, and his wife Mary.
James Norviell married Jane Moro at St Dunstan and All Saints, Stepney in 1796; both were from the hamlet of Mile End New Town.
The christening of James Norviel, the son of James and Jane, was held at St Luke, Finsbury in 1799. The child evidently died as another son James Norviell was christened at the same church in 1810 when their address was St James Buildings.
His father entered a mark at Goldsmiths Hall from this address in 1811 as a watch case maker and another in the same trade from Domingo Street, St Luke’s in 1813. Both names were transcribed as Norvill.
His wife Jane entered a maker’s mark in the same trade from the same address in 1819 indicating James had died but no record of his burial has been found.
