He was apprenticed to his father Christopher (Grimwade p.630) in 1768.
He entered a maker’s mark at Goldsmiths Hall in 1783 as a case maker from 1 Bridgewater Square and in 1784 said he had moved to 2 Princes Street, Bridgewater Square.
He was recorded in 1785 on the apprentice indentures of Peter Roberts at the latter address and paid Land Tax on that property until 1790.
He married Charlotte Brown at St Mary, Aldermanbury in 1790 and in the same year their son George Brown was christened at St Luke, Finsbury.
He notified Goldsmiths Hall of another change of address to 8 Finsbury Street, Moorfields at some unrecorded date.
Their son Henry Jonathan was christened at St Leonard, Shoreditch in 1798.
His son George was apprenticed to John Taylor (Grimwade p.308), Goldsmith and watch maker of Wilderness Row, Clerkenwell in 1813. Nathaniel is shown on the document as a silversmith of Blackfriars Road, Surrey.
He paid Land Tax on property at Barron’s Buildings, Southwark from 1809-17.
He died in 1817 and his Will indicates his last address was St George’s parish Southwark.
