FENNER, Nathaniel (Grimwade p.314)

He was christened the son of John and Mary Fenner at St Mary, Colechurch in 1791.
Duties were paid in 1805 for him to be an apprentice of Richard Basell (Grimwade p.315), watch pendant maker of Berkleley Street, Clerkenwell.
He married Matilda Eleanora Willshire at St Sepulchre, Holborn in 1812 and their first daughter was christened at St Mary Colechurch in the same year.
Another daughter was christened at the City of London Lying-in Hospital in 1814. Her father was recorded as a watch maker of Red Lion Court.
In the same year he entered a maker’s mark at Goldsmiths Hall as a watch pendant maker from 17 Bridgewater Square
A Nathaniel Fenner of Middlesex aged 23 years was found guilty of larceny at the Old Bailey in 1815 and given 7 years.
Daughter Emily Mary (born 1822) and son Nathaniel John (born 1824) were christened at St Andrew, Holborn in 1824. Their father was recorded as a watch pendant maker of Plough Street.
His 1841 UK Census record has not been found.
By 1851 he was recorded with his wife Matilda at Surrey Lane, Battersea as an oil refiner and manufacturer, in 1861 as an accountant and in 1871 as an annuitant.
The death of a Nathaniel George Fenner aged 85 years recorded in the Deptford register in 1874 may be relevant.
