EMMETT, Thomas (Grimwade p.320, 349)

Post by MCB »

He paid Land Tax on property in Albermarle Street from 1801-15.
He married Jane Elizabeth Woodhead at St Leonard Shoreditch in 1802; both were from that parish.
Christening records at St John the Baptist, Clerkenwell in 1810 for their son Thomas Henry and in 1812 for son William Henry show no further detail of address or their father’s occupation.
In 1813 he applied for Freedom of the City of London by redemption in the Clockmakers Company.
He entered a maker’s marks at Goldsmiths Hall 1813-14 as a watch pendant maker from 16 Albermarle Street.
The christening record in 1814 at St John the Baptist for their daughter Ellen shows the same address and father’s occupation.
He paid Land Tax on property in Great Sutton Street, Clerkenwell in 1816-32.
His son Thomas Henderson’s burial aged 8 years was also recorded at the same church in 1819 and from that address.
The book Watchmakers & Clockmakers of the World p.100 shows him as a watch hand maker.
