Post by MCB »

William Brett, the son of Richard and Elizabeth Quinton of Red Lion Street was christened in 1746 at St George the Martyr, Queen Square.
Indentures were signed in 1761 for him to be the apprentice of Gyles Hooper (Grimwade p.295), Citizen and Clockmaker.
He entered maker’s marks at Goldsmiths Hall in 1778 as a case maker from 31 New Street Square.
Indentures were signed in 1789 by Edward Griffiths (Grimade p.359), son of Edward Griffiths, jeweller of New Street Square, to be his apprentice.
In 1796 he paid duties as a Citizen and Clockmaker for the apprentice indentures of Thomas Stokes.
An application in June 1809 by his only child Mary Cameroux for Letters of Administration for the estate of her father William Quinton, late of Bethnal Green Road but formerly of New Street Square, cites his death as April 1809.
