BURROWS, Thomas (Grimwade p.319)

Post by MCB »

A christening recorded at St James, Clerkenwell in 1771 of Thomas, son of George and Alice, is probably relevant. The Will of George Burrows (Grimwade p.454) makes no mention of a son of this name.
Thomas married Ann Nowland at St John, Hackney in 1793; both were from that parish.
Christenings of sons Richard and Edward were recorded at St John, Clerkenwell in 1802 without further detail of an address or their father’s occupation.
The christening of another son Thomas at the same church in 1815 recorded their address as Eagle Court and his father as a watch maker.
He entered a maker’s mark at Goldsmiths Hall in 1820 as a pendant maker from 19 Eagle Court, St John’s Lane, Clerkenwell.
His widow Ann, son Thomas and his family were still at that address for the 1841 UK Census. Thomas junior was also a watch pendant maker.
Thomas senior's burial aged 71 years, late of that address, had been registered at St James, Clerkenwell earlier in 1841.
