DAWKINS, Frederick (Grimwade p.335)

Post by MCB »

He was christened in 1811 at St Giles, Cripplegate, the son of William, a watch maker and wife Elizabeth.
He entered a maker’s mark at Goldsmiths Hall in 1833 as a pendant maker from 5 St John’s Street.
He married Emily Clarissa Tyrer at St Anne, Limehouse in 1834.
The christening of their daughter Elizabeth Emily recorded at St Mary Islington in 1835 and of their son Henry at St Mary, Lambeth in 1837 show their address as Nelson Place and their father as a watch maker.
He was at Sydney Place, Islington for the 1841 UK Census and still a watch maker.
Other christenings of their children show that he was a wire drawer at Chatham Gardens, Hoxton in 1842 and at the same address as a labourer in 1844.
He was at 3 Chapel Row, Clerkenwell in 1851, at Pultney Street, Islington in 1861 and at 20 South Crescent, Greenwich in 1871 all as a gold and silver wire drawer.
His death was recorded in the Greenwich Register in 1871.
