ACHURCH, William I (Grimwade p.287)

Post by MCB »

Indentures were signed in 1691 for William, son of Thomas Achurch, Citizen and Haberdasher to be the apprentice of William Jacques, Citizen and Clockmaker.
He entered a maker’s mark (AC) at Goldsmiths Hall in 1699 as a case maker from New Street near Shoe Lane.
He married Hill Whitney at St Sepulchre, Holborn in the same year.
Their daughter Mary was christened in the same year at St Bride, Fleet Street; their address was Mildmays, Lower New Street and William was recorded as a watch case maker.
Their son William (Grimwade p.325) was christened at the same church in 1701.
Their son Edward was christened and his wife Hill, who died in childbirth, was buried at St Michael, Paternoster Royal in April 1702.
The burial of William Achurch aged around 87 years, late of Pepper’s Workhouse, recorded at St Leonard Shoreditch in 1761 may be relevant.
