Post by MCB »

The 1871 UK Census shows he was born in St Giles parish around 1778.
He married Margaret Maria Cobham at St Luke, Finsbury in 1800; both were from that parish.
He entered a maker’s mark at Goldsmiths Hall in 1815 as a case maker from 15 St James Buildings.
The burial of Margaret Maria aged 42 years, late of St James Buildings, was recorded at St James, Pentonville in 1820.
He entered another maker’s mark as a case maker from that address in 1824.
As a widower he married Eliza Bowman at St Mary, Islington in 1826; both were from that parish.
The christening record of their son James at St James, Clerkenwell in 1828 showed their address as Percival Street and his father as a watch case maker.
He entered another maker’s mark as a watch case maker from 54 Percival Street in 1835.
The burial of his wife Eliza aged 42 years, late of Percival Street, was recorded at St James also in 1835.
He was shown as a watch case maker at Percival Street in both 1841 and 1851 UK Census.
By 1861 he had retired to Stoke Newington and was still there in 1871.
His death aged around 93 years was noted in the Hackney register in 1872.
