He was christened the son of Andrew and Katherine Buschman at St Katharine Cree in 1738.
Indentures were signed in 1752 by Joseph, son of Andrew Bushman (sic), tailor of St Katharine Cree parish, to be the apprentice of Gilbert Caton, Citizen and Clockmaker.
He is mentioned in the publication Watchmakers and Clockmakers of the World where it is indicated he became free of the Company of Clockmakers in 1759.
He entered a maker's mark at Goldsmiths Hall in 1761 from Warwick Lane.
He married Mary Tucker at St Katharine Cree in 1762; he was from St Faith under St Paul parish.
Christenings were recorded for three of their children at St Faith under St Paul 1763-77. The records give no further information.
His burial aged 79 years was recorded at St Botolph, Aldersgate in 1817. His last address was Aldersgate Street
