RUST, Daniel (Grimwade p. 292, 335)

Post by MCB »

He was christened the son of Joseph and Mary Rust in 1754 at St John the Baptist, Clerkenwell.
He married Elizabeth Ward at St James, Clerkenwell in 1777; both were from that parish.
Christening records of their three daughters at St Luke, Finsbury in 1778-85 show their father as a watch case maker.
He entered maker’s marks in this capacity at Goldsmiths Hall from 2 Norman Buildings, Old Street in 1782, in partnership with John Jones in 1783 as case makers from the same address as before, alone as a case maker from 1 Norman Buildings, Old Street in 1784 and 1785 and notified a change of address to 4 Old Street Square in 1790.
Indentures were signed in 1784 by James Tetley (Grimwade p.308) and in 1793 by James Bridgman (Grimwade p.341) to be his apprentices as Citizen and Clockmaker.
The burial of a Daniel Rust recorded at St Luke’s in 1793 appears to be relevant although no age at death or last address is recorded.
