MORING, Arthur (Grimwade p.288, 333)

Post by MCB »

He was christened the son of Arthur and Sarah at St Sepulchre, Holborn in 1788.
He married Elizabeth Clarke at St Mary, Islington in 1804; both were from that parish.
Christening records at St Giles, Cripplegate 1804-11 for three their children show their father as a watch case maker.
He entered a maker’s mark at Goldsmiths Hall in 1810 as a case maker from 6 Pitman’s Buildings, St Luke parish.
Christening records at St Giles 1814-22 for four more of their children show their address as previously and their father continuing in the same trade as before.
He entered another maker’s mark in 1822 as a watch case maker from the same address as previously.
No trace has been found of a death or burial record for him. The 1841 UK Census shows his wife Elizabeth living in Britannia Street, Shoreditch without him but with seven of their children. She is shown as a stock maker. The marriage record for daughter Emily in 1845 shows her father was deceased.
