ESSEX, Charles (Grimwade p.290)

Post by MCB »

He entered maker’s marks at Goldsmiths Hall as a small worker from St John Street, Clerkenwell in 1823 and notified changes of address to Well Street in 1834 and 26 Southampton Row in 1837.
He had married Eliza Barfoot at St George, Hanover Square in 1830; both were from that parish.
The 1841 UK Census for 26 Southampton Row recorded him as a desk manufacturer aged 40 years, the
1851 UK Census for 28 Hart Street, Bloomsbury as an out of business shopkeeper aged 49 years.
His burial aged 52 years in 1853, late of 73 Theobalds Road, was recorded at St George the Martyr, Queen Street.
