A document dated 11th April 1772 recorded that John Rigby, from March 1766 a bound apprentice to John Wirgman, goldsmith of Princes Street for seven years, had been examined by Wardens of the Goldsmiths Company. The document is endorsed by his widow and administratrix Mary Wirgman.
William Strowd (Stroud as shown by Grimwade at page 673) had been bound apprentice to John Wirgman for seven years from October 1769 and was turned over to Benjamin Laver in December 1771.
Both records indicate that Wirgman died in 1771-2.
