The Times newspapers of 25th October and 8th November 1791 gave notice, by order of his assignees, of the sale of the stock, lease of house and premises at The Silver Lion, Foster Lane, Cheapside the property of Thomas Daniel (sic), bankrupt silversmith and jeweller.
The sale of his furniture and other property commencing on 6th December was advertised in the same newspaper on 19th November and 6th December 1791.
The same newspaper on 16, 23 and 25th May 1792 carried advertisements by Charles Callaghan, working silversmith and jeweller of 463 Strand, who reported he had been manager of the business at The Silver Lion, Foster Lane for upwards of 10 years and now employed the same workmen in his own manufacturing business.
Callaghan doesn’t appear to have registered a maker’s mark at Goldsmiths Hall.
