He was christened in 1708 at St Mary, Whitechapel, son of John and Elizabeth.
Indentures were signed in 1722 for him to be apprenticed to William Jolf, Citizen and Clockmaker of London.
He entered a maker’s mark at Goldsmiths Hall in around 1730 from The Crown, Foster Lane.
He married Mary Cutler at St George the Martyr, Southwark in 1731.
The christening of son Robert in 1733 was recorded at St Giles, Cripplegate.
Indentures were signed in 1734 by Benjamin, son of Timothy Smith, yeoman of Droitwich, to be his apprentice.
He entered a second maker’s mark in 1743 from Haulse Court, Southwark.
The burial of a Robert Swanson in 1753 was recorded at St Thomas, Southwark.
