SPILSBURY, Francis I (Grimwade p.667, 767)

Post by MCB »

He married Sarah Baker at All Hallows, London Wall in 1732.
As a Citizen and Goldsmith in 1732 he paid duties for the apprentice indentures of John Newsham of Clerkenwell.
Indentures were signed in 1735 for Matthew, son of Nicholas Fisher, husbandman late of Kendall, Westmoreland to be the apprentice of Francis Spilsbury Citizen and Goldsmith.
Grimwade reports Francis son Francis (Grimwade p.676, 767-8) to have been born in 1733. There was however a second christening at St Anne and St Agnes in 1736 of Francis, son of Francis and Sarah Spilsbury, indicating the first child had died. The later christening seems more compatible with this son obtaining Freedom of the City in 1757
There are also christening records 1737-43 at St Anne and St Agnes or St John Zachary for more of their children.
Francis Spilsbury I died in 1742. Related post: http://www.925-1000.com/forum/viewtopic ... ilit=wills
