NICHOLS, John (Grimwade p.607)

Post by MCB »

The christening records in 1819 at St James, Piccadilly and in 1825 at St Martin in the Fields for two daughters of John and Mary Nichols show him as a silversmith and their address as Duke’s Court from where John entered a maker’s mark at Goldsmiths Hall in 1825.
Further christening records for three of their children at St Martin in the Fields in 1830-34 show John continuing in the same trade at 40 Castle Street, the change of address being reported to Goldsmiths Hall in 1831.
The 1841 UK Census records him continuing at the same address and in the same trade.
His burial in 1847 aged 50 years is also recorded at St Martin in the Fields; his last address was as previously noted.
