MAY, Daniel II (Grimwade p.593)

Post by MCB »

The christening of Daniel the son of Daniel (Grimwade p.593) and Ann May of Hoxton Town recorded at St Leonard, Shoreditch in 1782 is probably relevant.
Daniel May, bachelor of the hamlet of Radcliff, married Mary Ann Hughes, spinster from the same address, at St Dunstan and All Saints, Stepney in 1814.
The christening records of their daughter Mary Anne in 1815, son George Daniel in 1817 and daughter Elizabeth in 1818 at St Matthew, Bethnal Green show their address as Bethnal Green Road or simply “Road” and their father as a silversmith.
The 1841 UK Census record of a Daniel May aged 60 years in the Bethnal Green Workhouse and a burial in 1846 of a Daniel May aged about 65 years recorded at St Matthew, Bethnal Green with a last address of Church Street may both be relevant.
