MAGNIAC, Francis (Grimwade p.588)

Post by MCB »

He was christened the son of Charles and Mary at St Mary, Lambeth in 1751.
Christening records at St Andrew by the Wardrobe in 1777-83 for 5 children and at St John the Baptist, Clerkenwell in 1788-98 for 3 children show their parents as Francis and Frances Magniac. None record an address.
Trade Directories 1789-90 record Francis Magniac as a merchant at St John’s Square.
The burial of his wife Frances aged 57 years in 1814 was recorded at St Mary Abbots, Kensington; her last address was Church Street.
His burial aged 71 years in 1823 was recorded at the same church and from the same last address.

There appears to have been a problem with the Will of Francis Magniac, late of Kensington, causing a delay in granting probate until 31st August 1827 (National Archives reference PROB 11/1730/190).
