BURTT, Thomas (Grimwade p.455, 739)

Post by MCB »

He was born the son of Thomas & Mary in 1792 and christened at St Andrew, Holborn where his parents were recorded from Clerkenwell. As Grimwade presumes he may have been the brother of Joseph Josiah Burtt (Grimwade p.455, 739).
He married Elizabeth Miller at St Bride, Fleet Street in 1813; both were from that parish. Thomas Burtt (his father?) was a witness to the marriage.
Christening records for three sons at St James, Clerkenwell in 1836 show their parents’ address as Northampton Street where their father was a book clasp maker.
Elizabeth Burtt’s burial in 1849 aged 59 years is recorded at St James, St Pancras; her last address was Park Road, Upper Holloway from where Thomas was recorded in 1861 as a proprietor of houses, in 1871 as a retired silversmith, as his last address in his burial recorded in the Islington registry and in his Will proved at the Principal registry both in 1873. The value of his estate was under £2000.
