The burial of a James Beattie of St Giles recorded in 1806 at St Anne, Soho seems relevant in view of Grimwade’s note that the widow Ann Beattie began drawing a pension in 1807.

3 February 1802 James Beattie York Street Covent Garden in the County of Middlesex Pocket Book Manufacturer will proved at London. The will specified that James's son James would receive William the elder James's brother's legacy in full. Ann and their son William were to continue the elder James's business and receive much of the remainder of the estate. Reference: TNA PROB 11/1369/123
