Post by MCB »

Goldworkers List (Section VII).

His application for freedom of the City of London in 1828 records he was born in 1786 the son of Thomas Seagood, a skinner of London.
He married Nancy Dunbibin at St Botolph, Aldersgate in 1809.
There are christening records at St Botolph, Aldersgate in 1811 for daughters Charlotte (born 1809) and Harriett born 1811. The records show no other detail.
He entered maker’s marks 1821-25 at Goldsmiths Hall as a goldworker at 56 Red Lion Street, Clerkenwell.
The 1851 UK Census recorded him at 5 Grecian Cottages, Croydon as a retired goldsmith aged 65 years.
His death was recorded in the Staining, Sussex register in the 2nd quarter of 1859.
His wife Nancy (born circa 1783) died in June 1859. The National Probate Calendar shows her estate, which was valued at under £1500, was granted probate as late as 1877. Her last address had been Lansdowne Place, Brighton.
