Post by MCB »

Goldworkers List (Section VII).

There is a christening record in 1786 at Christ Church, Spitalfields for a John Gaubert whose parents were James and Jane.
He married Elizabeth Fry at St Luke, Chelsea in 1822. He was from St James parish, Westminster.
Elizabeth Gaubert’s burial is recorded in 1825 at St Luke, Chelsea. She was aged 27 years and her last address was Gloucester Terrace.
He entered a maker's mark at Goldsmiths Hall in 1835 as a goldworker from 51 Berwick Street.
As shown in the England & Wales Marriage Index for the St Luke Chelsea register he married again in 1838. These records do not contain the name of his new wife but judging by a christening record of their daughter Caroline at St Marylebone in 1842 her name was Hannah. He is shown in this record as a jeweller at Berwick Street.
There is an also in entry 1842 in the England & Wales Deaths Index for the St James,Westminster register for a John Gaubert but there is no other detail recorded.
