SANDERS, Darby (Grimwade p.358)

Post by MCB »

Goldworkers List (Section VII).

He was born around 1729.
His Indentures in 1743 show he was the son of James Sanders, a Gardiner of St Leonard parish, Shoreditch. His master was William Hopkins, a member of the Company of Farriers.
In 1754 he married Ann or Anne Martin at St James, Clerkenwell.
The christening record in 1760 at St Giles, Cripplegate of their daughter Anne shows he was a jeweller.
Indentures in 1763 record him as Citizen and Farrier taking Jeremiah Andrews as an apprentice.
Christening records for 3 more children at St Giles, Cripplegate in 1764-73 also show he was a jeweller.
He entered a maker’s mark at Goldsmiths Hall in 1789 as a goldworker from 3 Bridgwater Gardens.
No further information has been found.
