He was born around 1783.
He entered a maker’s mark at Goldsmiths Hall in 1805 as a goldworker from 9 Silver Street.
The marriage of William Whitefield of Silver Street to Elizabeth Jemima Lee in 1810 is recorded at St Olave, Silver Street.
The christening record for their child at St Alban, Wood Street in 1813 shows the father as a goldsmith working from Broad Way, Bloomsbury.
The Goldsmith Hall records show he moved to 17 Crown Place, Soho in 1815 and the christening record for another of their children at St Alban church in 1816 confirms this new address as a goldsmith.
Indentures as an apprentice to his father were signed by his son Thomas from the Crown Street address in 1826 confirming William was still working as a goldsmith.
The 1841 UK Census shows William aged 58 and his wife aged 59 years at Manor Street, Clapham and of independent means.
The London Deaths & Burials Index for the Holy Trinity, Clapham register shows William died in 1845 and Elizabeth in 1849 both at the Manor Street, Clapham address.
