Post by MCB »

Goldworkers List (Section VII).

He was born around 1798 in London.
William James Leadbetter was christened at St Andrew, Holborn on 29th July 1798; his parents were William and Sarah of Blewitt’s Buildings.
He married Sarah Blanch at St George, Hanover Square on 23rd July 1825. Both were of that parish
Christening records for their children at St Pancras church in 1826 show the father as a jeweller from Warren Street, and in 1828 as a jeweller from Dukes Row. Another christening record for their child at St Marylebone in 1830 shows the father still a jeweller but the address as Northam (unreadable) Street.
He entered a maker’s mark at Goldsmiths Hall in 1835 as a goldworker from 4 Pollen Street, Hanover Square
1841 & 1851 UK Censuses for Pollen Street, Hanover Square record him as a jeweller.
England & Wales Deaths Index for St George, Hanover Square register shows he died in the 2nd quarter of 1854.
