WARWICK, Stephen (Grimwade p.380)

Goldworkers List (Section VII).

Born around 1773 in Bristol.
He married Ann Turner at St Luke, Finsbury on 30th June 1800. Both parties were of that parish
Entered maker’s marks at Goldsmiths Hall as a goldworker in 1805 from 90 Shoe Lane, in 1809 and 1825 from Northampton Square.
Indentures dated 2nd February 1821 for his son Stephen as an apprentice to James Scotchford a jeweller from Aldersgate Buildings record him as a gold seal maker from Northampton Square. Indentures dated 24th April 1834 for his son Benjamin as an apprentice to Thomas Hall, Wheelwright show the same address.
Christening records have been traced for 9 children; 5 in 1804-6 at St Bride, Fleet Street recording the father at 90 Shoe Lane and 4 in 1809-1814 at St James, Clerkenwell recording the father as a jeweller at Northampton Square.
1841 UK Census for Northampton Square as a jeweller aged 68 years. Wife Ann is not recorded.
On 26th June 1847 Stephen Warwick widower and jeweller of St James, Clerkenwell married Mary Brownell (nee Bigg) a widow from Aldgate at St Botolph, Aldgate.
1851 UK Census for Northampton Square as a jeweller aged 71 years!
Died 1854.

The Will of Stephen Warwick, gold seal maker and jeweller late of Clerkenwell, was proved for probate on 27th July 1854 (National Archives reference PROB 11/2195/219).
