Born around 1810.
He entered a maker’s mark at Goldsmiths Hall in 1836 as a goldworker from 1 Brunswick Place, St John Street Road.
He married Mary Wilson at St Bartholomew the Great on 20th June 1841. Both parties lived in Long Lane. Samuel was a jeweller; no occupation is recorded for Mary.
As a widower he married Mary Elizabeth Salisbury on 21st April 1847 at St Pancras, Camden. Both parties lived in Pratt Street. Samuel was a jeweller. No occupation was recorded for Mary Elizabeth.
1841 UK Census for St James Street, Clerkenwell as a jeweller.
Christening record for daughter Mary Jemima at St Pancras, Camden dated 26th December 1847. Father recorded as a jeweller from Jeffreys Street.
1851 UK Census for 26 Charlotte Street, Islington as a working jeweller. He is again recorded as a widower.
1861 & 1871 UK Census for 5 Upper Southampton Street as a jeweller.
1881 UK Census living with his married daughter at 1 Cheltenham Villas, Holdenhurst, Hampshire. He is recorded as a general jeweller.
Died 2nd June 1890.
England & Wales Deaths Index for Christchurch register dated 2nd quarter 1890. Aged 80 years.
National Probate Calendar for Principal Registry dated 17th June 1890. Last address Beaumont Avenue Road, Bournemouth as a journeyman jeweller. His daughter Mary Jemima Kirby was Administratrix of his estate valued at £28/15/6d.
