Born c1814.
Christening record for St John, Clerkenwell dated 2nd January 1815 shows christian names as Samuel Holditch Thomas (not John as in Grimwade). Father Jonathan, Goldsmith (Grimwade p.541) and mother Sarah Dinah.
1841 UK Census for Red Lion Street as a silversmith.
1851 UK Census for 55 Farrington Square as a manufacturer of silver plate.
1861 UK Census for 24 Finchley Road as a silversmith.
John Culme's Directory of Goldsmiths and Silversmiths 1838-1914 (Vol. 1 p.224) records Samuel Hayne was bankrupt in 1865.
1871 UK Census for 8 Clifton Road, Marylebone shows no occupation but income from rents.
1881 UK Census for 3 Blomfield Terrace, Paddington shows no occupation or source of income.
Died 4th August 1887.
England & Wales Death Index for Marylebone register.
England & Wales National Probate Calendar for 1892 shows probate granted 7th March 1892 (note the delay after date of death). Estate valued at £110.

1831 Hayne, Samuel listed in the London poll book under goldsmiths at 71 St James Street.

7 April 1841 Wililam son of Richard Evans of Greyhound Stables St John's Street Clerkenwell in the County of Middlesex livery stable keeper apprenticed to Samuel Holditch Thomas Hayne 16 Red Lion Street Clerkenwell silversmith to learn the art of a silversmith.

7 October 1846 Benjamin James son Benjamin Pain of 7 Crescent Street Custom Square in the County of Middlesex builder apprenticed to Samuel Holditch Thomas Hayne Red Lion Street Clerkenwell chaser to learn the art of a chaser.

3 February 1847 George son of Charles Shakel of 35 Trafalgar Street Walworth in the County of Surrey silver chaser apprenticed to Samuel Holditch Thomas Hayne Red Lion Street Clerkenwell silversmith to learn the art of a silversmith.

2 June 1847 Daniel son of George Samuel Bindoff (Grimwade p.441) of 22 Dorchester Street New North Road in the County of Middlesex spoonmaker apprenticed to Samuel Holditch Thomas Hayne 16 Red Lion Street Clerkenwell chaser to learn the art of a chaser.

1 April 1835 Samuel Holditch Thomas son of Jonathan Hayne London Goldsmith admitted into the freedom of the City in the Company of Goldsmiths by Patrimony.
