He entered a marks as bucklemaker at 16, Ealey Place, Holborn - assumed Ely Place in 1787 and 1789.

"At this Court Thomas Kirkham late apprentice to Edward Owen was ordered to be made free of this City and that the Fees due thereon be paid by the Steward of this Hospital." This Thomas Kirkham could be the son of the bucklemaker Thomas Kirkham who was bankrupted at this time, hence the charitable act .
However no other apprentices of Edward Owen, Broad Weaver via the Bridewell seem to be silversmiths and his will, proved at PCC on 24th January 1799 , describes him as Edward Owen, Weaver of Bridewell Hospital , City of London. So he may not relate either.
