13th March 1762 - First mark entered as smallworker "between the two Swan Lanes ,Upper Thames Street" where he is shown as buckle maker in PR1773. Subsequent mark entries give 102, Thames Street. As Horwoods great map (1813 version ) shows No 102 as being in between Old Swan Lane and Swan Lane all these entries refer to the same address.

Perhaps the John Mackfarling fined for substandard buckles in the 1763 -1768 period.

24th March 1785 General Evening Post reports an assault on Mr M'Farren, a buckle-maker in Upper Thames Street. There is mention of a woman servant and Mrs M'Farren his wife. "The apprentice [who obviously lived in as this was during the night] came down with the ladle he melted silver in , and knocked one of the fellows down; the other two ran away "

In Holdens 1790 as John MacFarlane, buckle maker at 102 Upper Thames Street.
He moved in 1790 to Bird(s) Court, Philip Lane

4 January 1744 John son of Malcolm McFerlan of the parish of St Andrews Holborn barber apprenticed to John Cruickshank musician of London.

John also requested to be discharged from his contract with Cruickshank because the latter was not working in the silversmith trade, but I'll have to return to that scenario at a later date.

1 August 1747 John McFerlan turned over to Joseph Stevens harrier of the same trade.

Although John McFerlan's indenture contract is unreadable, the attached annexations do contain all the information that I have been able to provide in these last two posts.
