There is considerable in formation on Elliott in an article by Peter Cameron
"Family Business: Robert Collier, the master of James Phipps I, silversmith "
at http://www.petercameronantiquesilver.co ... ess1ab.pdf

This includes a transcript of a monument to him erected at St Mary's , Whitney praising his generosity to the upkeep of the church building and to the parish poor . Hopefully I will be able to provide an image of this , as Witney is within driving range from me !

His will of 1760 had left a Hundred Pounds " to ten poor men of the parish of Witney in the county of Oxford "

His sister, Anne , who got an annual annuity of £100 in her own right ,had married an Edward Terrill In 1721. One of their sons , Edward Terrill Jn was apprenticed to Brian Marriot, Goldsmith and is believed to have been a silver buckle maker from at least 1749 until his death in 1751. Edward Jn's marks, if any, would have been in the lost smallworkers register. After the death in 1736 of her first husband , Anne married Robert Collier (Grimwade p.469) in 1742. By 1760, the time of the will, Anne was the wife of a Henry Townsend, Robert having died in 1748 .

Our thanks to Peter Cameron and Silverly for most of this information
