Goldsmith's Hall Apprentice Book 9, page 2 records the apprenticeship in 1779 of James Baker, son of James Baker to William Cox "to be taught the trade of Bucklemaker."
William Cox is probably William Cox II, and the father of the apprentice may well be the James Baker given by Grimwade as entering a mark as smallworker 19 April 1759 at New Court , Bunhill Row .
Either he or his son was probably the James Baker, Goldsmith of St James Clerkenwell whose will was proved at PCC on 6 August 1793 .

Re: BAKER, James (Grimwade p.428)
The Will of James Stamp (1780) states that his nephews were George Stamp Baker and James Stamp, and indicates that they were both minors in 1780.
Hence John Baker ,his former partner, was probably a cousin.
IGI records the marriage of John Baker and Ann Stamp 14 Jul 1765 at Saint Botolph Without Aldersgate and the christening 3 March 1766 of George Stamp Baker , son of John and Ann at St Martin Ludgate .
George was born 4 February 1766, so somewhat early in the marriage ! Probably explaining why Stamp's will states "Eldest of my Nephews Stamp or Baker" - Georges parents probably kept the exact date of birth rather quiet !
