Salts 1798-1809 -- maker?

Post by Agman »

This is a pair of salts marked for Paris, 1798-1809, maker's mark CJV? I'd be grateful for help identifying the silversmith. The second letter might not be a J, but I'm pretty sure about the C and V (see pics).

Mark of Christophe-Philip Vahland.
Mark entered 1810.

14 quai des Orfèvres, Paris (1822)
N° de garantie : 1270
N° de préfecture : -
Christophe Philip Vahland was succeeded at 14 quai des Orfèvres in 1837 by François Auguste Grattepain who registered his mark at that address on 1 Feb 1837.
Vahland died on 10 Jan 1852, leaving his estate to Grattepain. Grattepain (born 7 May 1797) cancelled his mark on 30 Jun 1856.

Thank you so much. I’m incredibly grateful for your help.

Now all I need are replacement blue glass inserts for the pair of salts.
