If I see correctly, the 65 department should be Hautes-Pyrénées

In this region I often find religious silver (Lourdes).

Please send a reaction about this possibility to correctness.

Thank you in advance.

I agree that the assay office code looks like "65", but in this cycle of marks (1819-1838), Hautes-Pyrénées was department 63; department 65 was Bas-Rhin and its assay office in Strasbourg. Unfortunately, I don't know of any references with Strasbourg makers after the very early 19th century. The initials look to be conjoined - "MF" perhaps?

Hi, Blackstone,

You always go deeper into an investigation, and that is very special how you do that.
The attention you give to this is always very instructive.

You have assisted me many times in the past, and the knowledge you have is extraordinary.

Just back on this subject the makers mark is very clearly a letter M under a cross (with magnifier 20X)

What else can I say, yes that I have received a reaction about which I am very satisfied and happy.

Greetings

For 19thC Strasbourg makers, I’ve had success with :
E-Auguste Hoellbeck. Almanach du commerce, de l’industrie, des arts et des métiers de Strasbourg.
I’ve only consulted this in a library; it is not among my references.
Good luck in your continuing research!

Hi Dendriet
You’re welcome. If you find the almanach, it is a business directory, not a list of marks. It will be a bit tedious going through the list of orfèvres to find those beginning with M, and then looking at each one to see if that could be your man.
Good luck!
