Re: Please i have a dilemma
Hi,
That`s a mystery.
Take a look here:
http://www.925-1000.com/Ffrench_marks.html
The eagle of this form is described as ``overstruck on common metal`` + THAN 50%, whatever it means.
I am also very interested to have the issue clarified.
Regards

Hi,
Welcome to the Forum.
You are far more likely to get responses if you embed your images as very few people will click on thumbnails or links.
An image of the whole item may help.

This is it.
Re: Please i have a dilemma
It could be 18K white gold bullion for jewelry production. Still, the use of this particular eagle mark is unclear. The same page with description given above (the link) circulates everywhere. Cannot find any additional info on ``overstruck on common metal``. What is ``common metal`` in this context ? Eighteen karat gold bars are made by some jewelers who specialize in producing alloys from pure gold bullion. Therefore the ``maker`s mark`` here.
