(Jules) Vautrot Partnerships
(Jules) Vautrot Partnerships
Vautrot & Hull are listed as a partnership in Warren Ohio 1882-1885. But is this a retail arrangement or a reference to a silversmithing operation aside from the Vautrot retailer status?
Re: (Jules) Vautrot Partnerships
A trail of corporate histories begins here and leads through a drawn out criminal history of Hull's partner after Vautrot: https://www.sterlingflatwarefashions.co ... Jules.html
From Telephony., Vol. 8, no. 6, December 1904, on page 566 comes an alternate name listing Julius Vautrot, Jr. of Warren Ohio as elected by stockholders of the Home Telephone Company (Jamestown, N.Y.) as one of the company's directors for the year....might indicate his father is Julius F. Vautrot, Sr.?

Re: (Jules) Vautrot Partnerships
A 1921 biography indicates Jules Francis, Sr. had retired from the business in 1873 and his son Jules Francis, Jr. took over. It was reported at that time that the original premises were still being operated, though having long since passed into a partnership. Jules, Sr. continued on with his activities related to a bank. [Still no clue as to who Hull was...Vautrot & Hull is evidenced as a partnership through a back-stamped mark on flatware in place of any other markings..hand engraved female name in top reserve.]

Re: (Jules) Vautrot Partnerships
Another bio, from 1921, give that Jules, Sr. was trained as a silversmith in Pittsburg, but that Jules, Jr. had apprenticed in watch repair before moving into sales. The first location is said to be a few doors west of the store noted above.
Re: (Jules) Vautrot Partnerships
Pgs. XXIV-XXV of following source place Jules Vautrot, Jr. as President of Home Telephone Company in 1903. Warren is also a county area in Pennsylvania, so this listing should confirm this is the same Vautrot family as the mentioned Julius, if not the same person. Two entries in column 2...Hucke & Vaurot selling Pianos!! (Dec. 1859)....Jules Vautrot selling numerous goods (to other sellers...peddlers) including spoons, which seems to imply he purchases silverwares rather than makes them (???): https://chroniclingamerica.loc.gov/lccn ... /seq-4.pdf
