Describing a Mark Shape

Post by Traintime »

The elongated hexagonal mark, used both as a general maker's "cartouche" and an official Italian mark, is a puzzle. In trying to ascertain the official geometric title to the shape, I found this wiki which describes it under tilings (scroll down) as a sub-class of hexagonal parrallelogons known as an elongated Rhombus: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parallelogon

You can't get much trying to find "Rhombusoidal Elongated Hexogon" (Rhomboidal leads elsewhere). Since no one seems to have coined the term "Rhombegon", should we claim it as an easy official name, or would it be too confusing?

Better yet, what about Rhombexogons and Rhomboctogons (though I doubt the latter will ever surface)?

The spelling "Rhomboctagon" has been used for a math question.

Elongated Rhombus should work just fine, and remember the Austro-Hungarian Import Mark?
