Hi,

That's IC TH for John Crouch I and Thomas Hannam. Grimwade has a note saying "Not in register. Mark taken from salver 1784."

One for the lost registers section.

Agostino, Can you post a clear, directly overhead photo of the maker's mark? For the Encyclopedia.

Miles, Any thoughts as to why Grimwade stated 'by 1771' rather than by 1773 when that particular Largeworkers Register was finished?

Regards Trev.

Hi Trev,

I can only imagine Grimwade had seen a piece dated to 1771.

Has anyone ever seen the I . C mark by itself? If we come across just an I dot C, would this still be attributed to the works of John Crouch I and
would the IC with a dot in between still correspond to John Crouch I who perhaps had a single hallmark in the lost register?

Hi Aguest,

Please start a new topic with images of the mark and item. There are many possibilities for the mark you describe.
