Cigarette case

Post by JOC »

Wonder if you would be able to help me, I was recently going through some items from my late grandmother and she had in her possession a cigarette case owned by my grandfather. I believe that the case is silver and the hallmarks inside are: H S Ltd and have an Anchor, Lion and the letter P adjacent. The lower half of the case has a Lion and the letter P again.

I am after some information about the origin of this case and what the likely year of manufacture could be.

Thanks in advance

Hi James,

Welcome to the Forum.

The sponsor's mark is that of H. Stroud Ltd., the case was assayed at Birmingham in 1939.
