Hi
I have this identical pair of fiddle and shell tablespoons. One is punched 3 times with a fouled anchor mark, the other 3 times with a mark I can't decipher. Does anybody have any information or opinions on the origin of these spoons?
Many Thanks
Martin
Colonial or Scottish?
Re: Colonial or Scottish?
Hi Martin,
These spoons have a Continental look to me. In the UK the owners crest or initials were usually facing towards the user, whereas on the continent the fashion was to have them facing away.

Hi Trev
Thanks for your observations. To my eyes however the H monoram does appear to be facing the user, in line with some of my other UK monogrammed flatware. The marks however have left me completely stumped.
