I have an old silver christening mug, handed down through family. The hallmarks are strange, only 3 but it is stamped "Sterling" and has the number 697. The hallmark has a galleon, HS in a shield and what looks like an animal's head: wild boar perhaps.
How do you take photos of hallmarks when the item itself is shiny?
Odd hallmarks: help, please

Hi,

http://www.tinypic.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; is recommended. Embedded images get a far greater response than just posting links.

If you have problems with reflective light, I'm presuming you have turned the flash off, then place the object in the freezer for twenty minutes and it will mist up upon removal and have a matt finish.
