Trying for a maker's ID and year if possible
Hi everyone!! I hope someone here can help me with dating this spoon and who the maker is. I found it while out metal detecting a late 1700's homestead the other day and can't find anything about it. I like in Niagara, Ontario, Canada and hope this helps!! Thanks in advance for any answers!!

Welcome to the forum.
Believe that mark was used by Thomas Bisbrown, active 1785-1800.
Your bright cut spoon was made c.1792 according to the attached article.
My reference, "Silversmiths and Related Craftsmen of the Atlantic Provinces" by
Donald C. Mackay, says other examples of his bright-cut spoons are in the Nova Scotia museum.

The Incorporation of Edinburgh website has note of Thomas Bisbrown being at Glasgow in 1771.

Thanks for that info Trev.
He must have been born earlier than my article suggests.

Wow, thank you for the fast reply and the information. Those dates are within the time frame of the old homestead, and also the initials so far with the information of the family stamped on the spoon. One more trip to the library archives to be 100% sure I hope. Thanks again for your help!!
